Grocery store promotes local growers
Austin Business Journal -

A new grocery on South Congress seeking to become a local fixture wants its customers to "Eat Local."

The Farm to Market Grocery opened Monday at 1718 South Congress Ave.

Its founders, Peg McCoy and Angela Atwood, say the store will promote food producers and growers from Central Texas.

The store will combine grocery basics with high-end items such as specialty cheeses, boutique wines and fresh flowers. Its founders have enlisted the help of Faye Greenberg, who served for 10 years as Central Market's director of specialty foods procurement.

"We want people to meet their neighbors on the street as they walk to the market," McCoy says. "We live in the neighborhood and started this project seeking to improve our neighbors' quality of life as well as our own."
